Your introduction week
Important: Starting from 2025, Fontys will no longer provide centrally arranged accommodation during the introduction week. We kindly ask you to arrange your own place to stay or travel to the programme from home each day.
Whether you already know a few people or no one at all, this week is the perfect opportunity get to know your fellow students, lecturers, your course, and the city of Eindhoven. All in a relaxed, informal setting with no obligations. The most important thing? That you feel truly welcome and get off to a fantastic start!
What can you expect?
The TNW (Applied Science and Applied Physics) introduction committee has put together an exciting and engaging programme for you. Throughout much of the introduction week, you’ll be grouped with other TNW students, giving you the chance to get to know each other in a fun and laid-back environment.
You’ll also be supported by our intro parents, experienced students from later years, who are there to guide you, answer your questions, and help you settle in. They’ll be around all week, whether you need some advice or just fancy a chat.
Expect a week full of fun activities, new connections, and the legendary Purple Festival. From icebreaker games and a Crazy 88 challenge to a sports and games day and a city festival.
Programme
Curious about what your introduction week will look like? Below we have provided a brief overview of what your days will look like, so you know what to expect.
Your introduction week begins at 10:00 AM at the Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven). After registration, an age check, and receiving your introduction shirt, you will meet your intro group, intro parents (students from higher years), classmates, and student coach. Then, you'll dive into a Crazy88 challenge on campus. Don't forget to bring your own lunch, as it is not included on this day.
In the afternoon, you'll head into the city for more Crazy88 tasks to explore the city. In the evening, a buffet awaits you at Café Hubble, and the day will conclude with a pub quiz at Café 40 (located in the Nexus building).
We’re kicking off the day early, you’re expected at the Nexus building at 8:30 AM. Today’s agenda features an exciting sports and games day at Rofra, where you’ll compete against each other in a "Sterrenslag" challenge, followed by a fun canoe trip with the whole group.
Both lunch and dinner will be provided for you throughout the day.
On Monday and Tuesday, your study institution will organize the programme. These days are all about getting to know your fellow students, the campus, the city, and your study programme itself.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the Purple Days take place: two days packed with activities that are the same for all Fontys students. Wednesday’s program kicks off at 10:00 AM at the Students Sports Centre Eindhoven, where you can explore different sports and local (student) sports clubs.

This event is organized by local municipalities and/or hospitality businesses in collaboration with Fontys. In Eindhoven, all educational institutions (mbo/hbo/wo) are invited, including Summa, Sint Lucas, De Rooi Pannen, and TU/e.
