Universities and companies tackle labour market challenges

Fontys Venlo/KennisDC Logistiek (Knowledge Distribution Center in Logistics, a nationwide logistics network fostering logistics professionals) is project leader of the project 'Social Innovator Logistics Limburg'. Together with Fontys, ten companies (incl. DHL, DSV and KLG Europe), Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and the research institute TNO are participating in this project.

In recent years, the steady economic growth in the field of logistics has been creating plenty of career opportunities. However, this growth resulted in logistics companies experiencing shortages on the labour market. It is a challenge to retain good employees and attract new ones. Here, social innovation may be a solution. It aims at both employees being more involved/engaged in the current processes and having more control. This leads to companies performing better, become more attractive as an employer and thus improving their employer brand. The project Social Innovator Logistics Limburg supports companies in innovating socially. At the end of the project, all companies are awarded with a certificate and the title 'Social Innovator Logistics Limburg'.

Regarding the topic ‘Employer Branding’, Fontys Venlo / KennisDC Logistiek also organized a workshop on recruiting and retaining employees. This resulted in an exchange of ideas on how to retain employees and which specific requirements need to be met to remain an attractive employer.
