Nieuwe locatie fietsenstalling campus Rachelsmolen

Het kan je inmiddels niet ontgaan zijn: er wordt flink gebouwd aan de drie nieuwe onderwijsgebouwen op campus Rachelsmolen. Hoewel er alles aan gedaan wordt om overlast te beperken, gaat dat helaas niet altijd. Zo werden eerder al enkele poorten tot het terrein gesloten. Nu is de fietsenstalling voor gebouw R5 aan de beurt. Dat heeft op korte termijn gevolgen voor medewerkers en studenten die hun fiets in de fietsenstalling voor R5 stallen.
Als onderdeel van het vernieuwen van de campus en het creëren van een groene, parkachtige campus, wordt een bruisend en open stadsplein gerealiseerd. De huidige fietsenstalling zoals deze nu aan de voorzijde van gebouw R5 gesitueerd is, past daar niet bij. Dat betekent niet dat de fietsenstalling in zijn geheel verdwijnt, enkel dat deze verplaatst wordt. Fontys zet namelijk in op duurzame bereikbaarheid van haar campussen, waarbij het belangrijk is dat er voldoende fietsstalgelegenheid is.
Planning
Aannemer Hurks start op maandag 11 juli met de werkzaamheden aan de fietsenstalling. Dat betekent dat vanaf dat moment de fietsenstalling wordt afgezet met hekken en niet meer te gebruiken is. Gedurende de zomerperiode wordt er hard gewerkt aan het plaatsen van de nieuwe stalling, waardoor deze vanaf de eerste onderwijsweek weer toegankelijk is (29 augustus). Tot die tijd kunnen fietsen en scooters gestald worden in de fiets/scooterstalling bij R3/R4.
Nieuwe locatie
De nieuwe fietsenstalling zal tussen bestaand gebouw R5 en nieuwbouw R12 gerealiseerd worden (zie plattegrond). Na de zomer wordt op locatie de route naar de nieuwe fietsenstalling duidelijk kenbaar gemaakt. In de nieuwe fietsenstalling zal, zoals ook in de oude het geval was, ruimte zijn voor zowel het openbaar als afgesloten (voor medewerkers) stallen van fietsen.
Overlast
Het verplaatsen van de fietsenstalling zal slechts minimaal voor overlast zorgen. Door de zomervakantie die nadert is het al een stuk minder druk op de campus en dus ook in deze fietsenstalling. Er worden geen werkzaamheden verricht die tot geluidsoverlast zorgen, anders dan het geluid dat nu al van de bouwplaats komt.
De ingang van gebouw R5 blijft toegankelijk, maar wordt mogelijk wat minder goed bereikbaar door de hekken die geplaatst worden.

It can't have escaped you by now: there is a lot of construction going on at the three new educational buildings on campus Rachelsmolen. Although every effort is made to limit inconvenience, this is unfortunately not always possible. Some of the gates to the site had already been closed. Now it is the turn of the bicycle parking in front of building R5. In the short term this will have consequences for cyclists who park their bikes in the bike park in front of R5.
As part of the renewal of the campus and the creation of a green, park-like campus, a vibrant and open town square will be realized. The current bicycle parking as it is currently located at the front of building R5 does not fit with that. This does not mean that the bicycle parking will disappear entirely, only that it will be moved. Fontys is committed to the sustainable accessibility of its campuses, where it is important to have sufficient bicycle parking facilities.
Planning
Contractor Hurks will start work on the bicycle storage facility on Monday 11 July. This means that from that moment on, the bicycle shed will be fenced off and can no longer be used. During the summer period, the new parking facility will be installed and will be accessible again from the first school week onwards (29 August). Until then, bicycles and scooters can be parked in the bicycle/scooter parking at R3/R4.
New location
The new bicycle parking will be realized between existing building R5 and new building R12 (see map). After the summer the route to the new bicycle parking will be made clear on location. In the new bicycle parking, as in the old one, there will be room for both public and closed (for employees) bicycle parking.
Nuisance
The relocation of the bicycle parking will only cause minimal inconvenience. Because of the approaching summer vacations, it is already much less busy on campus and therefore also in this bicycle parking facility. No work will be carried out that will cause noise pollution, other than the noise that is already coming from the building site.
The entrance to building R5 will remain accessible, but may become less so due to the fences being installed.
