Pulmonary auscultation of children according to motor development

As part of an international teacher exchange of The Fontys School for Allied Health Professions an interesting and practical course is being offered to students as well as healthprofessionals: Pulmonary auscultation of children according to motor development

Learn about the pros and cons of pulmonary auscultation for children in the age of 0 to 12 months with respiratory problems and learn how to put this technic into practise.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Theoretic and practice of handling the child according to his age;
  • Pulmonary auscultation in children – is there a specific technique?
  • Advantages and disadvantages of pulmonary auscultation for children;
  •  Acoustic physics of pulmonary auscultation;
  • Child’s normal lung sounds and a comparison to adults;
  • Child´s pathological lung sounds;
  • The technique of pulmonary auscultation for adults;
  • The importance of understanding the components of sensory motor development (of the age 0 to 12 months) to perform a successful pulmonary auscultation in children;
  • Students will learn to identify the main pathological sounds through the quiz tool Kahoot;
  • Students will interact with each other and with pediatric models in order to perform a correct; pulmonary auscultation technique, according to the child’s age.

This free course will be held in English, with a duration of 8 hours.
