Admission requirements, registration and tuition fees

• For Dutch students: havo, vwo or mbo-diploma.
• For German students: Fachhochschulreife.
• For students of other nationalities: senior high school diploma/GCE or equivalent (see below!).

Admission requirements for students of foreign nationalities (other than Dutch or German):

• senior high school diploma/GCE or equivalent. Foreign certificates have to be validated. This validation takes place between the home-faculty and Fontys University of Applied Sciences. Please contact internationaloffice-venlo@fontys.nl for more information!

Language requirements

English Courses

For all English taught courses a minimum English language proficiency is required according to the following table. The English language proficiency must be proved by submitting an IELTS or TOEFL test result. German and Dutch students do not need to do a language test

Some applicants can be exempted from submitting the language proficiency test results:

• Candidates with a Dutch HAVO / VWO diploma
• EU Candidates with the required previous education.
• Applicants whose previous education was English-taught for at least two years, and taken in a country in which English is an official language.
• Applicants whose mother tongue is English

The level of English proficiency must always meet the entry requirements for the chosen Fontys course. Fontys always reserves the right to require a language proficiency test for all categories of applicants.

Dutch and German Courses

Your command of the German language should be at Proficiency level [e.g. Certificate Grundstufe II of the Goetheinstitut or comparable certificates of other language schools]. If you are a foreign student and you wish to register for a programme in Dutch, your command of the Dutch language must be at Proficiency level [Staatsexamen NT2: Nederlands als tweede taal, programma II, hoger onderwijs].

Registration

For Dutch and German students:

Registration to our courses has to be made via Studielink. Studielink is an online portal that allows applicants to apply and maintain their registration whenever they want to.

German students are kindly asked to fill in our pre-application form prior to registration via Studielink. These forms can be downloaded via the button on the right!

Please then go to Studielink either via our link on this page or later via www.studielink.nl to register! There you first ask for a username and a password, which is both going to be sent to your email address. With username and password you can easily register. Do not hesitate to contact us if any problems or obstacles occur!

In The Netherlands, one of the legal requirements when commencing a course of study at a higher education level is that you also register at the IB-Groep (Informatie Beheer Groep = Information Management Group). Via Studielink, however, this IB-Groep registration will be arranged automatically.

Students of other nationalities

Tuition Fees for Bachelor Programmes

A good education is an investment in your future! Tuition fees for intake February 2011 are € 1.672, - and €46 registration fee per year, the September intake fee is € 1713,-. This amount applies to students from all EU/EEA-nationalities (the Netherlands not included) who are no younger than 18 years and no older than 30 years at the start of their studies. Indispensable prerequisite is that you reside in NRW, Niedersachsen, Bremen, the Netherlands or Belgium during your study.

Students from Non-EU/EEA countries pay € 7200,-.  Information about scholarships, criteria and other details for Non-EU/EEA students is available on www.fontys.edu/studying-at-Fontys.

Costs for books and readers are not included.
