ASQ 2025

Placeholder for Fontys video
Meet, inspire and innovate at the crossroads of technology and social impact

ASQ (All Sorts of Questions) Fontys is the annual networking and inspiration meeting of the Centre of Expertise HTSM. At this exciting event, professionals from the business sector discuss current high-tech developments in the Netherlands with governments and with knowledge institutions such as Fontys.

Centre of Expertise High Tech Systems and Materials (CoE HTSM) is the link between education, research and the professional domain. We make impact with practice-oriented high-tech research within our three societal themes: making the manufacturing industry more sustainable, energy transition and healthcare. We do this by translating technological innovations into practice and integrating new technical insights into education and business.

On Tuesday 4 November 2025, Nexus in Eindhoven will again be dedicated to inspiration, meeting and collaboration. With a powerful keynote and interactive innovation cafés, during ASQ Fontys will create space for substantive deepening, new connections and concrete follow-up actions.

Working together on solutions for tomorrow

The social transitions we are facing require smart technology, cooperation across sector boundaries and a willingness to share and apply knowledge. Not through one-way traffic, but in dialogue. During ASQ Fontys, the seeds of innovations are being planted for future collaboration.

Whether you are concerned with circular production processes, smart energy systems or tomorrow's healthcare technologies, at ASQ Fontys you will find like-minded people. We are always looking for (new) partners to give direction to research and to carry it out together. During ASQ, we make those connections. We think, dare and act together.

An afternoon of inspiration, interaction and innovation

Sustainable manufacturing industry

Innovation Café – Productive with Smart AI Tools

By Erik Puik, Professor of System Design & Realisation, and Yvonne Kirkels, Lecturer-Researcher in Strategy and Innovation Management.
Discover how AI can be used to work smarter during the Innovation Café. We’ll guide you through the practical possibilities and challenges of AI. In interactive subgroups, we’ll explore motivations, experiences, needs, and barriers when working with AI. Get inspired and join the conversation about the future of working with AI!

Innovation Café – The Power of Disassembly: Opportunities for SMEs

By Jan Dobbelsteen and Edwin van den Oetelaar, Lecturer-Researchers at the High Tech Embedded Software research group
For years, the focus has been on efficient production, making devices increasingly difficult to repair. Replacement is often the only option. Attention is now shifting toward repairable and circular products, with a focus on reuse and resource conservation. Repair-friendly disassembly plays a key role in this. Within the High Tech Embedded Software research group, we collaborate with companies to explore how disassembly can be better applied and how technicians can be optimally supported.

Energy transition

Innovation Café - Lifelong Development & learning communities around applied electrochemistry, hydrogen and batteries

By Peter Thüne, Professor of Solar Fuels, and Marcel Brand, Impact Developer for Energy TransitionThe energy transition and demographic changes in Brabant call for strong collaboration between education, research, and industry. Fontys plays a central role through initiatives such as Lifelong Learning and learning communities. In this session, we’ll discuss current topics like electrochemistry, hydrogen, and batteries, and provide an overview of our curriculum and ongoing projects. Together with companies, we explore training needs and qualifications, aiming for more effective collaboration within the regional ecosystem and a strong boost to technological and economic development in Brabant.

Innovation Café - Energy in Connection: Innovating Together on Smart System Integration

by Paul Verstegen, professor of Automotive & Energy Innovation, Corné Dirne, professor of Operational Excellence and Teade Punter, professor of High Tech Embedded Software

Health

Innovation - Café Point of Care diagnostics developed within Fontys

By Anne Loonen and Joost Schoeber, Professors of Life Sciences, and Ronald ten Berge, Impact Developer for Biotech Booster Detecting diseases or infections faster, easier, and more accurately can help reduce pressure on healthcare and enable quicker diagnoses for patients. Major advancements are possible with the latest technologies. Fontys is conducting intensive research in this area within the Molecular Technologies for One Health research group. During this session, Professors Joost Schoeber and Anne Loonen will discuss opportunities for collaboration with companies and institutions. Be inspired by the latest developments and join the conversation about the future of diagnostics in healthcare.

Innovation Café - Beyond Technology: The human factor in healthcare innovation

By Angelique Dierick-van Daele, Professor of Decision Support: Who CAREs?
Technology plays an increasingly important role in hospital care. But when does technology truly add value? In this interactive workshop, we explore what healthcare professionals need to effectively and humanely integrate technology. We focus on professional competencies, education, training, and interprofessional collaboration — with an eye on a future where technology and humanity reinforce each other.

  • 17:00 - 18:00: Wrap up with bites and drinks
